I'm looking for some info on Sanford lake. I've never been and curious on where to launch and the earliest I can drop the boat in? Where's the best place to launch? County Park or Marina? Any other tips or advice would be great!

Thanks[/i]

Both ramps are good- unless you want to get there early or stay late- the county park does close roughly dusk to dawn. Sanford Lake Marina ramp does not close and is a couple bucks cheaper on the ramp fee too I think. The owner is also very musky-friendly and has even done some good education work on all the fishermen going through there. In general, you get more pleasure boaters at the county park (with 100's of parking spaces, and keep in mind their usual trailering skills), and its mostly fishermen using the marina.

Good luck if you go- keep in mind Sanford is nuts on the weekends, it is literally almost unfishable for all the boats running up and down the skinny lake.

I know the park ramp closes at 10pm now because I was there a week or so ago. I know that the gate times change throughout the season. Not sure when it opens but I believe it is 6am.

I hear ya! These are the times that Hudson or Ovid are worth their weight in muskies… Have you been to Diane? Its got a no-wake rule from 6:30 pm – 10:00 am at least. Its another clay-based lake like Hudson, muddy water though (assuming maybe that's why Hudson wasn't tops on your list already). Good luck, and wherever you go if you can just block out all the yahoos, and if you don't get run over, you can still catch fish!

Yeah Hudson was on my list as I love the no-wake and scenery but I have a love/hate relationship with Hudson. I have had so many days out there without seeing fish and it's just a tough lake. It's really a hard decision and I know most lakes will be packed. Maybe early morning or late evening is the ticket…. I guess it will be good to just be out fishing.

Scott, as bad as that lake treated me last year, I still love her. Do you think it had something to do with Ed throwing that pink bait and the fish thought you guy's were calling them whimps!! By the way how did you guy's do that day?

Thanks for the invite Hemi but the reason I'm so stressed on picking the right lake is I'm taking my father (virgin Muskie fisherman) and trying to put him on a fish. I finally have him a little excited to go and I'm trying to hit the right lake at the right time on one of the busiest weekends on the water. I'm a genuis! I might take you up on another Ovid trip!

Steve, yes it's all Ed's fault between the pink baits and his bad language I think the muskies are really pissed at us. We didn't see a damn thing last hundred times out on Hudson. I'm gonna also blame it on Ed!!

I'm still undecided on where to go! I need to go Muskie dream to helpe decide
