Hey Nick, just to warn you Sanford is going to be an unholy mess this weekend I'm afraid! The rivers are all at flood stage and the water is chocolate milk. But if you are going to be there anyway, the further down the lake (south) you go the better chance for clear water. You should find some weeds in the shallows up near the county beach and around the bridge, that might be your best bet. Otherwise, hotspots might be a little cool!

Nick: I live on Sanford. The Lake is very high and to say it is chocolate milk would be an understatement. Duke is right about finding cleaner water in the South end by the beach. Often you can find cleaner water in the very far North stretches due to currents there as well. However, they are holding a lot of water back in the system due to heavy flooding from Sanford on down the Titt. River so I doubt there will be much pull and current to clear things out. If you do not know Sanford go slow as there are a lot of stumps and it is hard to follow the river channel which wanders. However the water is so high you should be ok. Take it slow and you'll be good. Good luck.

Nick, I've been out there the past 2 days hitting all areas. Definitely a blown-out mess in the middle 5 miles or so of the lake. Probably 2' of visibility down by the bridge, but that can change by the hour depending on what they do with the dams to handle all the rising water. The pike aren't exactly on, but you should catch a few and have a good shot at a real dandy if you care for that sort of thing! No muskies seen yet. You know, if you get this in time, you may want to consider a jaunt up to Secord Lake. It will be heavily tannic this time of year, but no sediment in the water column (tribs come from brookie streams and forest runoff, not farmland). Expect 4-6' visibility in most areas. It's a beautiful, sprawling body of water with hefty skis and plenty of nice bass and pike too. Have fun!
