Rod Holders/Track System

I am looking to get a track system in my boat as I am sick of clamping and adjusting my salty holders all the time. However, the area where I would put the system is a couple inches below the very outside railing of my boat so I am looking for options for raising the rod holders a couple inches above the track. I'm going to get the Traxstech mounting tracks, but just looking for different options on raising rod holders. I've seen these online, but just wondering if anyone has other ideas or products that would work. Does traxstech simply have a vertical bar which goes into their track system and that I can just clamp my saltys to?

I have a couple like you have pictured on the far right… I also have a couple on a 6" raised piece that can be moved to a 45° angle… nothing that can be clamped.
If you want to take em for a test drive let me know.

I would seriously consider adding a rail and mounting them to the rail.

How would you recommend mounting them on the rail? I see downeast has a rail mount, but it looks like they would take a long time putting on and taking off. Is there an adapter or something I can permanitely mount on the rails and then quickly clamp my rod holders on when I need to use them? I'm thinking about mounting the Scotty rail mounts and then I can clamp my downeast rod holders to those.

Found this online and is what I would probably do if I do rails. <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]

I still like the idea of having the trax system as that seems the quickest and easiest.

I was just thinking you would mount them to the rail and leave them.

Jason , I really like the ones you posted . Nice different height models and they use the center part of the s-10. I have most of my salties mounted permanant on Pursuit blocks but still have some we have to clamp and unclamp. Im just used to it. But yes the tracks on our Starcraft are awesome. We even mount downriggers on ours.

Wish I would have seen this before I spent forever trying to figure that out on my own. End result was the same and it's an awesome setup.

Jason,

I have Salty S-17 bolt-ons mounted on Traxstech rails and leave them there all the time, even when trailering. Been 5 years now and no problems. I put a stubby allen-head cap screw in the hole at the end of the tracks so the rod holders can't be removed without using the right allen wrench. I also used Locktite as an extra measure to keep them from vibrating out.

You can see the hole I'm talking about here at the end in the center (no screw installed in this pic):

So is you're plan to remove them after you hook one trolling?

Lol, I guess I am not planning on catching that many while trolling haha. I just don't like them right in the way when I'm casting, but I won't be adding them until the winter/spring so I have time to review which style I like best.
