HI guys,

There was a guy from Bert's at Cabelas last week showing off this new rod corral and it looked pretty cool. He said it should hold a 3" diameter rod no problem. What do you guy think about this?

This is just my opinion but vertical rod storage in a boat scares me. I know they seem out of the way but I've always imagined someone hitting them on a backcast with the lure or on a hookset and breaking every rod in the rack. Maybe for a trolling situation it would be ok.

My thoughts exactly. Same reason I don't get one of those holders for my net. It'd be nice to get it out of the way, but I can just see it getting caught on a backswing.

I agree but this would work nice if you were fishing alone and put it in the stern.

Might be in the way if a hooked fish runs under your boat.

I agree with Will, I had somebody in my boat catch all the rods in the holder on the back swing. What a mess!! Needless to say, but I took it out of the boat the next day.

We have that happen on the pontoon boat more often than I care to remember.
