Having the regulations change for the chain fish is pretty awesome. Hope it will help allow the waters to start to thrive like all of the Canadian destination lakes that have 50 to 54 inch size limits..

This comment has since been deleted but if you had doubts about Hulbert that's all you need to see to know that he is just trash. It's been a battle with a few people online and even though we have shown them email evidence to refute their arguments they continue to bash Will, Myself, and MMA. It's really a shame that it's come to this and is not a very good way to build a working relationship for the future. MOMC has also made a public comment that MMA is to blame for the CIR season on st Clair on their FB page. I guess this is what we get for trying to make Michigan the best it can be without help from the keyboard warriors of LSC.

Nick,

Yeah I tried to keep it as PC as possible not to cause any more MMA badmouthing but had to get involved. It's been going on way too far and WIll, MMA and you don't deserve this. You can see Hulbert's maturity level when he called you out for catching more fish than you. If he only knew that LSC is a Muskie factory compared to the waters you fish. In reality it's pretty obvious who's accomplished more if he really want to measure you, our club and Will vs. the ones who are crying the most. It's unreal to me how close minded some of these guys are! Good job to you and others for getting involved with the facts. It does suck it had to turn out this way but there comes a time when enough is enough and we have to stick together when false information is being spread about MMA and our friends.

Oh and it proves he's a true "Keyboard Warrior" when he talks so much trash but then erases what he says hours later. Another example of his poor reputation.

I'm thankful Mike didn't join in any conversations with me… I am also thankful I don't have to fish with any of them. I do think that its going to have an adverse effect on their business, and I hope it would. I had a very hard time biting my tongue when Quintano "lol'ed" my comments about my livelihood, and tried to make it about his life being more important than mine. (He wouldn't last a day in my life…). Their panties are all so bunched up they can't help but make everything personal, and are too stupid to realize the difference.

But, as cooler heads prevail, I think that in combination with the one fish per season bag limit, the CIR season will have little to no effect on the overall population out there. It is quite telling that those groups have all banded together for a completely unknown, and guaranteed minuscule outcome on a singular overprotected lake, all while openly wishing the rest of Michigan stayed under the debilitating status quo. One small change on one lake that can handle it, or a bunch of HUGE changes on 126 lakes that need it. Pretty selfish in the big picture.

As I remember it, MMA pretty much kicked ass during this whole process. As hard as it is, knowing that you did something for the benefit of the entire state of Michigan is far more important than winning a pointless online argument. Will is probably the most diligent person on the planet when it comes to staying on top of the regulations changes, and did a fantastic job of informing everyone. Especially LSC Muskies Inc, and MOMC! He also did a great job of compiling ideas from everyone that would give them. If they had given 1/100th the effort that WIll and MMA gave, they'd have a case to fight.

Last, I gotta say, it just isn't worth the effort arguing. Some are just cheesed, and will get over it. The others fall into the idiot category, and as they say; never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience! [smilie=gayfight.gif]

P.S. I really love the people commenting on how they need to get there next year to fish before its destroyed [smilie=eyebulge.gif] You really can't argue with stupid.

Well said and thanks to all involved. Michigan's muskie fishing/regulations continue to get better, and although many wish changes could happen more quickly, the future looks bright. What doesn't look so bright are some of the comments I read from some of the MOMC people and Mike Hulbert. I agree it isn't worth arguing with stupid people, but that still doesn't take away from the fact some people need to be punched in the balls. 99.9% of people who are active in muskie fishing appreciate the work that goes on behind the scenes and can see from some of the negative comments that were posted who the real knuckleheads are.

I used to think a couple of the vocal, east side guys were my friends, but times like this reveal a fella's true character….. [smilie=brickwall.gif]

After all of the wining, complaining, and finger pointing, I'm concerned about the spearing proposal the NRC is going to consider in February. (Although I'm not completely sure what the proposal is) I'm a bit surprised the NRC wanted a CIR proposal without exemption of LSC despite hearing from several groups and individuals. Their decision was obviously not influenced by what they heard from MOMC, MMA, LSCMI, as well as individual anglers. Can we have any sort of confidence regarding the spearing proposal? As I understand it, the NRC is not going to limit opportunity to Michigan "sportsman" (term used lightly). The biologist provide input and recommendations, but the NRC makes the regulations…… It's unsettling to me after their vote on CIR. Is there a way to guarantee the NRC's final decision on spearing?
Thanks!

That response from Hulbert should go to: Tuffy Boats, Lowrance, MinnKota, Mercury, etc.

Probably should put it in the newsletter as well.

They were generally supportive of these changes. I believe they think that as long as they don't oppose changes that they will have support when they try to expand spearing.

Their proposal is for a one week experimental season on St Clair.

MMA has clearly stated to the DNR and NRC that it vehemently opposes ANY expansion in spearing.

Mandatory reporting. Therefore any fish popping up on social media will be easy to follow up for the dnr.

One of the things I'm sure will be suggested is a quota.
