I just sat thorough a half hour of being insulted by Mike Hulbert because of the proposed CIR regulation. All of you were also insulted by him. Apparently you're all a bunch of hacks and wannabe anglers including those of you that are his clients.
I on the other hand am in his words; an idiot, dumber than his girlfriend and she's retarded (again his words), wannabe guide, piece of shit, loser and he's going to kick my ass the next time he sees me. These and other comments that were too colorful to post here were repeated over and over during this phone call.
In hindsight I wish I would have figured out a way to record the call.
Thanks for dealing with the extra crap. It is unfortunate that people as uninformed as some that have inserted themselves into this discussion get heard. I am thankful that the powers that be are pretty well versed in wading thru BS tho! In the end, I have been contemplating hiring a guide on LSC, to take out a buddy that can't catch muskies, and this process has narrowed the list down dramatically!
Well that is pretty sad. Most know and have known he's not a good person and NOBODY should give that trash money to fish LSC or any bodies of water he fishes. He's not a good person and there are many instances from his teaching career and fishing career. We are behind you Will and understand that your taking blame for a decision the NRC made, not you or MMA.
Everyone should follow him to piss him off. We've been cutoff by him many times. I've seen him out there countless times and where he fishes is no secret. He simply just catches tons of fish cause he fishes everyday. It's not rocket science out there. It's simply time of water. Funny to see him call others hacks and wannabe anglers when all he does is chase Muskie. He can't fly fish, hasn't chased many other fresh or salt species, he can't float down a river streamer fishing flies into tight logged jammed pockets, over hanging tree branches on a very narrow hard to cast river. He's a one species type guy so I find it funny to criticize Will and many of us who well versed in other fishing applications. And if anyone wants, I know many areas, spots and locations he fishes LSC throughout the summer and fall. At this point I don't care and happy to share exactly where he's fishing. Trust me, you DO NOT need to hire a guide for LSC! Just find the time to fish and you can be your own guide. While we're at it…don't give your hard earned money to Quintano. He's another guy that's not very nice and very ignorant. Your not safe with Mike in a storm on LSC. Most times with lightening he's still casting and having his clients cast. I've seen it many times. Happy to let anyone know where he's fishing just to piss him off.
I've had some pretty heated discussions when dealing with regulations over the years, especially with the spearing crowd, but this was next level. He seemed completely drunk, was beyond belligerent and more than once threatened me with bodily harm. What I found the most disheartening was how he talked about members of MMA. When I said "Mike, you are insulting people that are clients of yours." he said F&%$ those people, they're a bunch of hack inland anglers.
That is very unfortunate and I am sorry you had to endure that Will. Thank you for ALL you do, but that shouldn’t be one them. As they say, you can’t win an argument with an idiot- they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
All that crap he said WOULD be very insulting, if it came from a decent person. As it is, I hope you can just let it roll off.

I am not sure why I would ever book him on a lake like st Clair.. what would he teach me? How to throw a medussa all day long over cabbage?
All he cares about is that lake and no desire to help the rest of the state like the rest of the guides out there.
