Yes mine broke right at the upper wrap on the second eyelet from the tip. The break even went into the wrap several windings. Mitch(my rod guy) did say that it was very possible the rod had been wrapped too tight. I never heard of that but I'm no expert on rods. I think the one minus 5 inches is going to be great. I'M looking forward to using it after the tips come in. I got some real good quality tips coming. SIC with #10 rings. I post on the results when its done.

I put a ABU Power handle on Michelle's 300 AVID reel. It is only 1/8th of an inch longer so it will add some added ease to her retrieve plus the big handle. I have another even longer one Ill use next if this one doesnt give her what she wants. Right now she has me making double 8 bucktails in all her favorite combinations. Im going to do several jointed so I can change skirts and blades around on them. She cant fish again until the 7th then the 16th, 20th and 21st. Mike

Yep, that's a wrapping issue for sure. That's pretty common on mass produced rods since the quality control isn't as good. Even a company like St Croix will call it a defect, almost without seeing it, if the rod breaks at or under the wrap.

I think within my little gang we have 14 of the TI rods…had one eyelet that needed replacement (possibly due to a 6 year old's misstep), but lotsa casts, hooksets & fish between them with no major issues to date. I love these rods, the service behind them…and they have replaced all others as my go-to's for big fish.

The banquet rod we have – the okuma evx-c-861h rod is my favorite rod I have and has held up 3.5 seasons of constant use-its a moose and the epoxy is cracking around the guides and it's days are numbered. Other than that the 11wt Ross Fly rod/CLA 6 is a favorite.
