The Trion 6600 I have pulled my DC (yeah, I only have one DC) easier at about the same handle speed. From the looks of it, Kim liked the Toro, so I am beginning to like the Trion quite a bit [smilie=ballchain.gif] …
Don't fret Bill; actually, it's a good thing. If you're using the Trion, no one will mistake you for a bass fisherman… [smilie=wink.gif]

On the Okuma should that "a" be on the box or stamped on the reel? If it's not there stay away from it? Steve
Not necessarily… Okuma only had problems with not even 1/2 of their reels. This was because they had the same part manufactured by 2 different companies. One company made it fine, the other had a flaw. So even if you do end up with one of the "bad" ones, send it to Okuma, and they'll take care of it. Their turn-around time was under 48 hours if I'm not mistaken. Check you PM, Steve. I sent you a link to a lefty Induron IDX 400 a. That should be the new model-free of problems!

If you get one of the Okuma's w/ the inertia problem you'll know right away. Call them and they'll send you the parts at no charge. If you send it in they will turn the reel around in one week or send you a new one.

Maybe I'm being silly if I go to Cabellas at the end of the month and get a Phullger and Okuma. I'm going to look for the "a", I don't want to send for parts or send it back, this is brand new. Steve
So few of the reels had problems that I wouldn't hesitate to get one. The odds of getting a bad reel out of the box are probably the same with any company.
Here is the real deal from Okuma's National Sales Manager:
All reels produced for the last 3 months have had the new hold plates installed in them. We also installed the new hold plates on all of the inventory that Okuma had in the U.S. I can't tell you that all reels in the market right now might not have the upgrades but since we stopped shipping them many months ago… i would imagine that 99% of the reels out there have the new parts. Also realize that not all reels had problems. If you do have a reel that has the disengaging problem… we have the parts in the states that we could either send out free of charge or you could send the reel to Okuma and we will turn it around generally within 24-48 hours.
My Okuma is MADE IN CHINA. 👿 Well, at least the customer service is MADE IN THE USA! [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]
A side note about Okuma's service: I finally talked my brother into getting an Induron 400. I also had an anti-reverse bearing go out in mine, along with a broken sideplate screw. I contacted Mark Rogers, the Okuma Sales Rep., and within 3 days, I had a new power handle, bearing, and 2 screws in my mailbox. Just got done putting the new bearing in….. and I didn't have any parts left over! So if anyone needs a new one put in, I MAY be able to help. 😀
