Does anybody do reel repair on our site. The guy I used to send my stuff to sold his bait and tackle shop in Hayward and isn't there anymore. I've got 2 5501-c3 (lefties) that need cleaning, lube and a look over. They were starting to make noise. Don't know if they need parts and it's hard to get left handed parts. Thanks, Steve

Good question Steve. Anybody have any work done on Diawa Lexa's? I haven't seen any reel repair shop list them.

Has anyone else had issues with their Lexa? I recently purchased one this summer and put less than 4 months of pretty limited use on it and it already broke. The reel will randomly reel in reverse during a retrieve. Not sure what the cause of this is and I am sure it is covered under the warranty, just wondering if anyone else has had this issue with theirs?

I started the season with a 400H. Put lots of work on it, throwing mostly large rubber. Flawless up to this point…thank you for the recommendation Will!!!

You just have terrible luck with reels! 😀 Sounds like the anti-reverse went out.

That is definitely the anti-reverse…Shimano's don't blow up. I have had every brand of reel and in my opinion, Shimano has the best, most robust anti-reverse. Depends how you fish if you ever put the reel into a situation that manifests the failure. I would guess that certain styles or angler tendencies definitely drive failures quicker than others.

400 or 300? I've got eight Lexas and have had very few issues, all attributed to them being dirty or dry. Your issue is certainly an anti-reverse problem and could be as simple as it being dirty. I've had dirty reels with slipping AR when it was cold outside. Some fishing styles are definitely harder on the AR. Ripping big rubber or baits through weeds is really hard on the AR if you don't put your thumb on the spool.

Send it to Daiwa and they'll send it back as good as new.

Thanks for the info guys. Its a Lexa 400 and it barely has any use on it, just a week in Green Bay and a handful of trips this fall and it already broke. For comparison I have a Calcutta TE that was my first muskie reel that I bought 5 years ago and I have not serviced it once and it still works perfectly.

This Lexa was the first higher end reel I spent the money on since my Calcutta so I was very disappointed to spend that much money only for it to break after just a couple months of use. I will be sending it into Daiwa this winter, I just hope it comes back fine and doesn't break again mid-way through next season.
