Went with a musky guide this summer and he loved these reels for musky fishing. This sale seems like a good deal if anyone is looking for a reel like this:

I think most guys use the 30 size and the guide has used them for a while and really liked them. My lefty affliction kept me from trying them and I have a buy $150 coupon and save $20 if anyone wants it but it expires 2/1.

Been there, had 2, thought they were gonna be the ticket. Was not the case… Seem like well built reels, but the number one problem is the bait clicker location. You will turn it on often, just with normal casting. Mike and Joe also picked them up… They ran in to the same trouble. In addition, I just could not get comfortable holding this reel. THere is no good place to rest your thumb.

Everyone's hand is different, so maybe it will work for you, but it did not for me.

Right on Chad! The baitclicker is located in an area, rear of left side plate, where your hand will accidentally brush over it and turn it on. Hopefully they have made improvements and changed the clicker location. I didn't notice it on the picture link that was included but it may be just a bad angle. Quantum really didn't put any thought in to it's location. Mike mentioned that he simply removed his.

I use a Cabo on my jerk bait rod and have experienced the accidental "clicker" sound on more than one occasion. 😔 I like the reel OK but it does have a different feel in your hands. It's a small profile reel.

Yep, very good reel except the clicker is idiotic. I did salvage mine by lodging in some tungsten sticky stuff against the clicker, and covering that with good silver metallic tape so it's smooth on top. Now no headaches as long as you don't need the clicker, which I don't for casting.

I'm guessing all you guys palm the reel, right? Would the clicker be a problem if the angler holds the cork section above the reel or would the balance of the set-up be off since the reel is a low profile reel?

Jason, you are correct! I don't think it would be nearly as big of an issue if one did not palm the reel. The clicker is in a spot where it is just so easily bumped.

Overall I really do enjoy the reel, casts very well and has a solid drag. As mentioned the clicker was an issue and I actually removed mine which only took a minute to do. For that price I’m actually thinking about getting another one.

Agreed, Jason and Tim, and I've been trying to palm less and hold the cork part for less wrist abuse, seems to help for that reason too. Mike I'll have to ask you to demo that clicker retrieval you did, I'm not handy so maybe I just missed what sounds like should be an easy fix.
