OK so last night Matt and I hit Thorn for a couple of hours. I had already canceled a trip I had planned for the day because of a back injury, luckily it started feeling better and I'm too dumb to sit at home and let it heal. We started out in the lake and then went down river. The DNR launch was a S*** show of inbreds and the river was no different. Not far past the bridge we came up on a rowboat with a few people in it and they asked us to give em some room because the got a big o fish chewing on a sucker. We got around 60 yards down from them when he set the hook into about a 40" muskie. They were trying to land it with no net and it wasn't going well and I knew once they flopped it in the boat it would only get worse. We turned around and gave them our net, once in the net I could only see a inch of the 12" leader. I couldn't see the hook but with a push tool I was able to get it out. We let the fish set for a minute he got a quick pic with his first muskie and after 5 or so minutes it finally swam down. They were surprisingly receptive to our advice and hopefully will use a quick strike next time. If it weren't for this club I never would have turned around to help and probably wouldn't of had all the proper tools to help anyway. It definitely felt better than catching a muskie and made me want to say thanks to any of you that helped and continue to help me.

Adam was curious what the temps were there yesterday? I figured every inland lake got steamy this wkend.. but looks like this week will completely lower the temps back into the lower 70's..I got out on a newer stocked lake just to check it out and was pretty warm as well. Luckily i saw nothing
We got out around 5:30 and the lake temp was 79°-82° and the river was 76° it had been a while sense I had gone out and truly thought something was wrong with my graph. I even asked some random a-hole what his graph said 🙄
It definitely felt awesome to see that muskie swim down after cutting a treble out of its throat. Luckily the treble they were using was real small and Adam snipped it easily. Felt better than catching a fish ourselves. I was real surprised at how receptive they were to advice and the release of the fish. Aside from the time it took getting the hook out, the fish was only out of the water for a few seconds for the pic and he was just as eager to get it in the water as we were to hope it lived. I was impressed at how it went considering the first impression of the situation was not looking very good…

That's funny.
I call that lake the Redneck Riviera. Or, Pontoon Paradise. If they aren't out putzing around with Lynard Skynard (or else something like All My Exes Live In Texas) blasting at 105 dB, they're zooming by me too closely, or else asking for a tow back to their dock because their POS premium watercraft broke down. I've towed 4 so far in the past 2 years.
I sometimes wonder if anyone is left down in Kentucky, because all the Hillbillies are up here.

My step dad lived in Kentucky for 15 years and still visits there about once a year. He always tells me that there are far bigger hillbillies up here, and more of them, then in Kentucky.

Glad to know my reputation is still intact.
