Are they stainless? They don't say. But…

"Angler's Choice" makes both carbon- and stainless steel pliers, and the stainless ones $20-ish. Still, not bad. See:

The cord-wrapped ones look interesting. I wonder if they're muskie-slime worthy.

Found another low-priced pliers the other day at Auto-Zone. They had 11" straight, 45 degree, and 90 degree. I've never heard of the brand, but on the back of the package, it said "If your pliers fails for any reason, bring it back, and we'll replace it free" (or something close to that). It didn't say stainless, but I guess if it doesn't work because of rust, at least you get a free new one. Here's the link to the pliers:

I have been using the same pliers for 8 years. Long and medium length with several types of hook cutters. I keep them all limber with WD40 . just a couple squirts a year and mine are all in good working order. Mike and Michelle

I had my b-in-law look through the Snap-On truck at his employer to see what he could come up with. Check these out! I have never seen anything like these. I tested them out on a 5/0 that was secured in a vise. The jaw is a little wider, but when you twist on these jaws, they do not flex or lose alignment. Plus, with the compound action, the gripping power is much higher. I will give these a run this season. They were $42 his cost.

Nice. If you don't have a BIL with access to Snap on tools you can find them here:

As a set (longnose, long/bent, duckbil):

I played with the needle nose too, but opted for the duckbill. The needle nose still twists when you are applying presure.
