I just got an email asking what I've heard from Muskegon, White, etc.
Please if you have fished these and any other of the GLMUS waters report your fishing, sightings, catches. We don't want to see this program scrapped because people are being secretive or just not reporting. If the DNR is not hearing about any of these fish surviving they will assume survival is poor and it could put everything in jeopardy.
Thanks.
Do they realize very few people are going to attempt to catch 3-4 year old fish? I can't wait for there to be fishable numbers out there, and will visit often, but am not going to spend a ton of time out there until its worth the drive. I was planning a couple spring trips to muskegon as a refresher and to look for future places, and then start hitting them regularly either next summer or the one after. Patience is a necessity when it takes 6-7 years for a fish to be mature!
I have a buddy that fishes Muskegon heavily for walleyes. He has contacted multiple muskies this year and has heard of a dozen other contacts. He also confirmed a very large muskellunge in Muskegon either natural gls, green bay or old Mac planter this spring.
I have had heard of zero Mona or White musky contact.
