got a ticket besause people without trailers were parked at the launch, so i had to park in the cop spot. worst of all there was a guy tossing out a line from his dock with a big gill on it on one big hook. I told him if he gets a muskie it would kill it, and he didnt seem to care. He just tied it up and left it.
Isn't an unattended line against the regs?
I use to hear stories of lakefront owners who put tip-ups out in front of their houses in the winter. I heard that a CO would come up, kick the tip-up so the flag went up, and then the CO's would wait a reasonable (whatever that is) amount of time for the owner to come out and demonstrate the line was attended. Assuming tracks in the snow/ice suggested that the tip-up belonged to the property owner, failure to show up meant the line was unattended and a ticket was written against the property owner. Never happened to me, but that's what I've heard.
From another perpective, if in the open water season yer out after dark and a line off a dock is unattended, and you want to pull it, a good place to safely put that line might be to wind it around the base of that property owner's speedboat propeller. Again, never tried this 😀 but it makes sense to me.
