i am planning a week there the week after the 4th of July, probably stay in a tent somewhere(maybe even stop at Craig for a day)… haven't really put anything together yet, even as far as who's going! I did this last summer and went to Kingston, McKeever, and Grassy and fished the Indian river and the Fox/Driggs system and found a few hexes. It was great but got a little boring/frustrating being by myself after about day 4 with a broken trolling motor, and was a little hard to get motivated to fish. Throw in at least 3 weeks on the upper chain, and opening weekend on hamlin, and its shaping up to be a good summer!
Now for some ice….

Hamlin Lake will be my main fishing effort in 2012. I have permission to leave one of my boats at a dock with a lake resident, and I have another cohort retired at a campground with a docked boat. I can check in on the MCWA walleye pond and then spend the rest of the day fishing. For those fishing Hamlin Lake, the Kountry Kubbard restaurant in Ludington (the airport corner) has the best hot beef sandwich in West Michigan.
Since I did not catch a fish on Skegemog last year, or the year before, I WILL catch a fish on Skegemog this year. If not this year, I WILL catch a fish on Skegemog in 2013. If not, I WILL catch a fish on Skegemog in…I dont know how much longer I can defy the hrs/fish odds on that lake, we will see.
Beyond fishing Antrim county religiously, I have a trip planned to the Minnesota/Canada boundary waters for some fat pike and rough camping over Labor Day and will visit the UP at some point for at least 1 extended weekend and hopefully will get a chance on LSC for the first time.
As far as muskie fishing goes, I want to get to LSC casting for a few long weekends again in search of a 50. Prolly try to go at least once in June to get in on more of the shallow water casting since I only went in July and August last year. Hamlin, Tahquamenon, and Antrim chain are all on my wish list for long weekends as well.
Odds are with the new addition to the family that my fishing time will decrease substantially this year.
The annual spring trip to the chain is the only sure thing for me. I would love a long weekend on th St Mary's river. Also, I'm sure to hit LSC for a couple days. Probably in June, and again in early September.
I feel a Cisco Chain trip brewing for 2013.
Well, this past year, I was fortunate enough to fish a few places away from home, including Skegemog, LSC, & Webster area lakes. I'd be happy if I could just do those again, but after seeing the prediction that gas prices might actually DOUBLE, I may not even make it farther than Campau!!
