I'm a newbie to the whole night fishing for muskies game. I've stayed out until total darkness plenty of times, but never committed to fishing after dark. Part of this is because although I'm only 28 I have the sleeping schedule of a 68 year old. I love being up early in the morning and ever since I slowed down my partying and bar-hopping I like to go to bed early also. Given that my three main lakes (Long, Bankson, Austin) are all usually very clear water and all three can get really busy during summer days I know this is a prime time I have been missing out on. What I really want to know is what times of year and weather conditions typically yield the best results. I know they are probably catchable at any time on any night, but since I'm not a real big fan of staying out late I would like to maximize my potential to catch fish for the time I put into it. I'm not looking for lures, spots, or presentations, more just what kind of moon phases and wheather conditions or times of year to best spend my time night fishing. Thanks
Take a look at my posts around this date:

Windy, rainy weather worked as well as warm calm nights. I will say that last year night fishing was down dramatically at Austin. The fish in that picture with the large "birthmark" on top I am pretty sure I caught a couple of weeks ago within 200 yards of there, and is now 35".
