Looking for some opinions guys. Just bought a new reel (revo toro beast) and I've decided I want to pair it with a new rod. I've decided on a brand but debating on length and power. I already have a 7'6 MH and a 8'6 H for dawgs. Primarily looking to use this for buck tails. I definitely want to go at least 8'.
Thanks for any help!
Sling blade is awesome for sure, they also make the legend elite in a 9' of the same version which I really want to try out.
But, don't ignore the TI rod I am building for the banquet on Saturday! It is an 8'6" MH, a touch softer than the sling blade in the tip 1/3, but more power thru the middle and butt section of it. I am thinking it will make a very good double 10 rod, along with swimbaits and some other stuff like that. I'll post some pics later thru the week, I had some parts on back order till yesterday
I would not suggest anything shorter then 8'6" for a bucktail rod. Casting distance and figure 8 control are key with bucktails and a longer rod gives you the advantage. 9' big nasty is a good rod for double tens and bigger. the 8'6" Slingblade is a great all around bucktail rod and can handle them all and the 8'6" long ranger is nice for small single bladed bucktails. Keep in mind with big bucktails, the weight of the bait is not really the issue but the baits pull very hard through the water, so you don't want to be pulling a double ten on a MH rod.

I'm leaning towards 8'6 Heavy but I've never gone any longer than that. I've heard 9' is a big difference

I should clarify… I get that the sling blade and the big nasty are "technically" the same rod, in an 8'6" and 9'… But! They are different enough tapers that the big nasty is much more capable… so when I say a 9' version of the sling blade in the legend elite, it is actually the 9' MH, which is "technically" the long ranger in a 9' rod. Anyhow, taper and amount of material combined with the diameter of the blank in certain points make a huge difference in the way they act. Shorter story, you need to fish with some of us nuts that own them all and figure out what you need/like the best [smilie=cheers2.gif]
I will, however, say that this MH 8'6" rod I am doing for the banquet is going to be a pretty nice stick!
