Hey that short blurb posted to the MMA facebook page said that the new regs are going to be open for public comment again.
It also says that action will be taken October 11th.
A couple things.
1-if they do open for comment that is a SHORT time frame.
2-I thought this was a done deal? Why the open for comment wording?
Will I know will have the most complete info and may respond further – but I do know the Fisheries Division presented to the NRC today at the Lansing Center, I made a brief pitch during the public comment segment later (maybe that was what was being referred to on Facebook but not sure).
Anyway, Jim Dexter told me after that they had ample questions from the NRC in their segment but it went well, and when I spoke there was no opposition evident at all, likely all wanted to get on to the big debate on oil drilling/fracking that dominated the NRC meeting today. As far as I know it's a go for the muskie and pike changes and it will be made official next month, but Will or someone else may have more info.
