Yeah I'm not worried about finding the numbers of fish caught, I'm worried about getting the total tally of people there as we would need that number to divide the points out by team. Or were you thinking about doing it all individually?
Yeah, that's true, that would be a little more difficult. But, if we have a lunch gathering every time, it would make it much easier too.

Other options.s would be to send a text to the scorekeeper or just make a phone call plus I would think there needs to be a consideration if it is ten versus fifteen to make it fair. It is for fun after all and maybe bragging rights [smilie=2thumbsup.gif]
The number of contestants won't matter, really. As long as each pulls theiir weight! The team with more will be at the disadvantage. So, even if it was me vs everybody else in the entire club, I would have the advantage. If I was to catch 1 40" fish, that would be 14 points/member. (Me). But if there were 20 guys on the other team, they would have to each catch a 40"er or bigger to win/tie. You use the points as used in the MOFC by Muskies Inc, then divide out the points per member.
And yes, it would definately be bragging rights. And then, maybe after it's all said and done, there could be an MVP for each team. Whoever got the most points for the team throughout the year. I could even look into doing trophies for said MVP's for 2013 Banquet!

[quote="jasonvkop"][quote="Jim tenHaaf"]So, Will and I were talking the other night, and came up with this idea. What do you think – Each of the outings this year will be one of the "Old vs Young Guns" tournaments. The points will build throughout the year, and then there will be a year-end championship at the Bruce. Oh, and Jason, as VP, I dub you the official coordinator and point keeper for this whole shabang since it's your idea. 😀
I'd be fine with that; there are only a couple of fish caught per outing so it shouldn't be hard to keep track of the points. This would be pretty cool as I can post results after ever outing so people can see where they are, but it might be difficult to get an official count of people for every outing.
I don't think it would be too hard… Somehow, some way, we always here of every catch eventually.
Wow… I need to limit your beer intake. Those were two different conversations but one lead to the other. First was that I thought this (old bulls vs young steers) was an interesting idea for one outing. The second part was to have a muskie league that included some night and weekend tournaments that ended in the championship at the Bruce… Sound familiar?

Oh yeah…. But, I guess either way would work too! It's not my fault I wasn't listening. Didn't you see those 2 girls at the bar? I didn't even notice them come in, but you could see the thong on one of them sometimes. [smilie=brows.gif] They weren't bad. A 7 or so. By the time we left, they were an 8.5. [smilie=biggrin.gif]

No, I'm too old to pay attention to stuff like that…

This would not be an old vs young deal but…
I've been trying to get this rolling for about ten years, here's the deal:
I'm sure this is on the forum somewhere but the idea is that we could include all outings as well as schedule additional evening tournaments around the state. This would require entry prior to the first outing (heck we could even include the IOC). A person could fish as many or as few as they want but if there are ten possible qualifiers you must fish at least five. If you fish more than five you can only count points from five toward the championship. With outings that are multiple days it's probably better to count only one day (Sat.) as the tournament day.
The anglers take their points from the year into the Bruce but the points in the Bruce would be doubled (instead of the normal 4pts for a 30" it would be eight and the points over 30 would be 2. Instead of a 36" being 10 points it would be 8+12=20.
The biggest question I guess would be if this is a team deal or single angler.
Would probably also need to have special numbered items to give out at the start.
Other details would need to be resolved of course…

Yeah, I like the idea that it isn't young vs. old for this; it would kind of be similar to what the Webster guys do, right? I think an individual tourney would be best as it could be pretty difficult to match schedules for the outings and weekly tournies. I really think this could be a lot of fun and we could even get trophies or something for the winners

With a modest entry there could be trophies to the top three for sure. Could also present those at the Bruce.
Michelle said how dare you classify her as OLD!!! [smilie=brows.gif] [smilie=brows.gif] She says she will take all you pups on herself. Michelle and I are in for a single event young against old on Hamlin, Diane or any other lake that does not get a lot of attention.. W e cant commit to any long term team competition. Michelle works 4 days gets one day off works 2 days and then 7 days off. This repeats . As long as an outing or challenge happens on one of her 7 days off we can fish it. W e plan all of our fshing trips around her work. Mike
