Should'nt the President and Board members have their pictures and bios up there too?
Personally, I like the bios on the introduce yourself forum.

And here's what I've got so far for our vector logo (the font face is Wide Latin):

When working w/ the logo think embroidery, it needs to be SIMPLE. Don't think web or 4 color print. For instance, note the fish is a single color w/ basic line art. Even the original logo is a TON of stiches and expensive to have embroidered. W/ the vector art you have it would be so complicated to have embroidered hats would probably cost us $50 per hat.

Looks nice Tom. I was looking for Ovid on the state outline…Will could he have 2- one for screenprint and website and another for patches?
Ed Zachary! No reason this one couldn't be used for embroidery:

Most serious entities have several versions of their logo for different media. We should have at least three: Full color, simple color, and B&W.

I guess what I'm getting at is that a cleaned up version would be great to have for print but adding another just confuses the MMA identity. Also, don't forget that we have the Muskies, Inc. logo that is part of this organization.
Current embroidery file comes out like this:

Now, if we want to talk about marketing, identity and multiple logos take a look at a group that knows how to market their stuff…NWTF <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]
">[Permission to view this media is denied]
How many logos do you see?
You'll see two that they use for NWTF stuff that isn't something special like Jakes or Women in the outdoors (see below).

The round logo has been around since the beginning and the turkeys over NWTF are relatively new. The turkeys over NWTF kinda reminds me of this logo…

YABUT… if you think printing process the original logo can be simplified for a two color process yellow and blue (note: yellow and blue make green). Therefore the state and fish don't have to be eliminated. Muskie across the middle would become black in a two color because black is always going to be there in print. There's a reason the original logo is primary colors…

That ignores wanting to embroider it, though… you can't make the full logo's greenby mixing blue and yellow, but the middle logo could be made just with two thread colors.
Like the Apple logo (the first one that comes to mind), the basic design is what stays the same; color rendering, shading, reflective effects, etc. are used to enhance it for different venues. Google "Apple logo" and search images to see what I mean. MSU, UoM, Microsoft, (I could go on and on) all use multiple logotypes.
Here's a good example:

No that is true but that isn't how embroidery is measured/charged, it is measured by stitch count.

Hmm… kinda like the MMA-PRE logo, eh? There's the normal green fade, there's the sunset version and the black and white above.
In your examples you aren't simply changing the colorization or simplifying the logo by making it black and white. You are removing critical elements of the logo. In the Apple example it would be like removing the bite from the apple and still trying to call it the Apple logo.
I'm not trying to be difficult at all (God knows I can be at times).
I actually like the current embroidered patch, it looks good on that dark green material (IMHO). Note the detail on the turkey against the simple one color secondaries.
But you had to bring[size=59] Apple[/size] into it 🙄 I am turning my screen off before someone brings up the open lab request for Apples again…

So… without the MI map or the fish = fewer stitches.

Ask yourself: what can we NOT take away without losing instant identity recognition? THAT'S our logo.
But, I don't really care, except that I think it's beyond my meager skilz to create a mono-green vector muskie graphic from scratch, and trying to cobble it from the old logo won't be good enough quality to satisfy my graphic sensibilities. Maybe we can find someone with TRUE artistic ability to create something. Who did the original?

IMO you can't remove any of the elements in oval logo. You can simplify it as they did with the embroidery file but you can't remove any of the elements. The reason I built the MMA-PRE logo was so we could have something that was VERY simple (just the fish and MMA) yet could be prettied up w/ a fade or other fill. The MMA-PRE logo is the one I would prefer to have embroidered and would be my choice to use as the primary logo just because I like it so much better. The oval is kind of old school or "fishing club" but the MMA-PRE is modern and has more of a "conservation organization" feel to it.

I did all the drawing and scanned it in. If I had access to Illustrator I could create it quickly but I don't.

You can come over here and do it… [smilie=bangtard.gif]
But if you like the PRE logo better, let's use it!
