i Have 2 that have been trashed by fish. One may have been faulty, but when i was fighting a 43", the fish managed to make the front hook go into the plastic and kinda magled side of the lure, puncturing the bottom/side, tough to say how it looks, better to see in person, but next time i threw it out about 35 feet in sank slowly on retrieve…lol nice

Other one, fish was hooked with back hook and was a pig estimating 20lbs or better, this was a sanford fish..hooked on a submerged figure 8
shook it's head so hard it torqued the wire through part and the plastic broke on the spinning tail, of course i was too busy trying to battle this beast…..and yes she shook the hook free 🙁

So that's how they got where i replaced them. I like bucher tackle, good stuff, but maybe i got the 1 out of 1000 that was not as top quality..who knows.

why is it weird? If you don't believe me that's fine.

i thought I found a site where people could share experiances and tackle tricks of the trade, but perhaps i was wrong.
I was fishing the sanford fill yesterday with my boss and his kids again and there were 2 guys (who i have never seen before) willing to kick a guy's butt in front of his wife and kids if he wouldnt release the muskie he was talking aloud about catching this year. And all he was doing was talking about fishing….This is going too far, i fish for fun and some people are going to far. I have met about 10 guys from the chapter who are great guys. If you are willing to beat down someone because of a fish you need help. I love the sport but not worth breaking someones nose. And the cockiness of some people who think they know " everything " about muskies…it is getting old, I know a very little, I am still very much a novice, but not a liar and i know I have a ton to learn, and I may never learn close to all i need to know about muskie fishing, but that is ok, that dosent make anyone less of a fisherman, i can deal with it, so should they. Everyones allowed to vent, this is an open forum, and i am sure there will be nice replies to me. But I had to get this garbage off my mind.

Bryan, you read WAY too much into that. I was simply saying you had some weird experiences with those topraiders. I don't doubt that you had problems with them. The reasons I asked in the first place was because I was interested to hear what happened.

Feel free to vent at any time here on the members forum.

Bryan,
Don't sweat it man 8) 8) say whatever you have to say!! Sometimes we, as humans do, mis-understand what other peoples comments mean and then we work it out. I have been edited, deleted and removed from this board myself. All over mis understandings. I have a few broken BUcher lures myself but it is odd when a plastic lure breaks, they just shouldn't.
Relief is around the corner 8 days away.

I can't remember a time I was wrong!!! And on to those bucher baits, the Dollarville Dam has claimed 4 of my baits but I guess molded plastic doesn't stand up to a concrete impact 😀

Ah, holes in the plastic, leaking and sinking sounds like all the believers I ever had. except one which I still have. Nothing like a good woodie 😀 :D. I dont buy many new lures anymore as I got tired of getting crap that falls apart, leaks or has the paint explode. I make my own lures so if they break its my fault Wink . We are working on a new jointed troller and its almost finished. Made from prime Cherry wood 7" long 1 1/8th" wide and 1" tall. It has a nose kind of like a Terminator and a tail kind of like a Loke with a body kind of like a Believer. It only has one belly hook so it will be legal to run two per line on Lake St. Claire in Canadian waters. We are calling it the Talonz Slasher and will be testing all of May . It will make its debut at the Lake St. Claires opener. I still pick up a new bait now an then but have and will continue to use what works for me. My own Bucktails, Talonz Little Claws, Crane Baits,S.S.Shads, Lokes,Hoginaters,Nils, Big Game, and Tuff Shads. funny those are all (WOODIES). As for plastic I tell you the truth. My wife and I have caught around 300 Muskies in the last 6 years. Plastic lures have accounted for 6 fish that I can remember. Two on Rapala super shads ,one on a Jake, One on a Stalker that developed leaks and got tossed, one on a Hooker G&M SHAD, and one on a $2.25 Stamina Rattle trap. There may have been a couple of others but the point Im making is <WOOD GETS IT DONE> Now some of you guys have had tons of luck with plastic and I read and reread the posts and for the life of me cant figure out how. I have run Jakes until the hooks wore holes in the sides,Believers until they had no paint left on them and Bucher lures until I got sick and tired of catching nothing. I put on a Loke and Bang fish on. I throw Cranes into the slop and Bang fish on, I twitch Little Claws on the breaks and Bang its fish on. Trolling Tuff Shads,Lokes and Tims Hoginaters have put nearly 200 fish in my boats. I find it hard to get excited about new hologram prizm finishes and other glitzy crap. For me the proof is in the net. My net. But alas I still pick up a Jake or Grandma here and there hoping I will finally get one with the magic mojo that catches tons of fish. I see a new Believer and want it but cant bring myself to spend the money after all the wasted time on the water towing them around. The new soft Plastics look cool but I dont catch fish on the old ones so why buy the new ones??? Then again the name says it all eh? SOFT HA HA HA HA . I may try a new Bikini Bait glide this year as I think Jed Volkman can paint!!! Kingfisher
