I'm not too sure on the details but I thought it would be important to note that the official date is

November 15

It is still listed as the other date in the Events portion of the forum.

I'm pretty sure most will be launching at deckers which is right in the north channel. That launch can fill up fast but I think because it's on the 15th we should be fine.

So who alls planning on going to this this weekend?

Any plans on where we are meeting up for lunch? I have never fished the north channel so I don't know the area very well. I've only ever fished Anchor Bay.

I thinking this is going down as an unofficial event.

Hope all who go are safe and Lk St Mud clears up a little. I've got too many 15-20" suckers left so I need to stay inland.

Hard to see the channels in any of yesterdays images but I'm guessing the wind yesterday didn't help the mud coming down from Saginaw Bay. This image looks like there's reasonably clear water coming into the St Clair river.

Ive never been to st clair if anyone has any helpful advice that would be great. The plan is to try and do like keyes outdoors, bulldawgs and cranks on the channel breaks. If anyone finds a good place for lunch or something let me know. This time of the year we usually just bring a camping grill and do soup and sandwichs on the tailgait.

I have not fished the north channel before either so it is all new to me too. Jim told me that Deckers is a good place for food and I think they have a boat launch there as well. We could plan on meeting there for lunch sometime in the afternoon.

Not sure who all is going tomorrow. It looks like Nick and Doug, Kevin and Adam, and Chris and I make 6. Anyone else planning on making the trip?

Kevin, we'll be in touch, it's going to be my first time out this late in the fall so it's going to take some learning.

Looks like iced up reels is going to be a problem…

thanks guys sounds good. The biggest problem with this weather is having your beer ice up. But then again you can always just duct tape a hand warmer to the side of the can. 😀

I fished alone from around 7:30-dark. I had a hit on a Motown white bass jig right away but didn't hook up. Later in the day I hooked up with a good fish that might of been landed with a net man but got off at my feet. Shortly after that fish I lost a big fish that wasn't hooked very well and shook the hook when it went airborne. As if loosing fish on a brutal day wasn't bad enough I had a Okuma rod with a Calcutta B fly out of the boat. I've kept my rods in that same spot forever and never had a problem even going down the highway, it was a hard and depressing lesson to learn that's for sure, but as Brett will tell ya it could of been worse.

Good job out there boys.

Highlight of our day was when we were fighting the current with the wind at our back. After nearly 30-40 mins joking around and complaining about being miserable I look down at the graph and realize that we have been casting to the same spot for who knows how long. Needless to say, there were no fish in that spot.

Fish were definitely going that day but unfortunately we were never in the right place at the right time. I raised a pike. Matt's Lexa started having fits. Knowing Doug and Nick were catching fish got in our head. It was a long drive home.

Hopefully Murray stays open for one more week.
