Does anyone have any input or opinion about the Okuma EVX, or telescoping musky rods in general? I recently purchased a 8'6" heavy EVX telescoping and I'm waiting for it to show up on the doorstep. I kind of blindly purchased it online after reading some pretty good reviews on other musky forums. Just interested in everyones opinion or experience.

I have one that I broke this year, I think it may have rubbed on the tailgate on my way to fish with a buddy. The first time I pulled a bait into the weeds it snapped. Within 2 weeks of breaking it I had a new one at my door and all I paid was shipping ($19). Can't say enough good things about their service.

I got one that I won at the banquet a couple years ago. It works great & it also fits in the rod locker which is nice.

I have that same exact rod- won it at the banquet a couple years ago actually. It has been a great rod and has caught many fish and many big fish!

Called 'heavy' action but it is as light as any action I use for muskies. Good for small to medium bucktails and the like, or twitching spring sized baits, not so much for ripping anything.

I have 2 of them, both XH action and like Duke said they do not feel as heavy action as they say they are, more like M/H action but I still love them for what I use them for. I would say the XH action EVX are great all purpose musky rods for throwing just about anything except pounders.

I got the 9'3 XH and it is awesome for big bucktails and many other applications. Nothing but good things to say about the rod and have never had any problems with it.

I have the same rod I use for big rubber. Works great.

I like my two but agree they run softer than the action indicated. This spring I swapped out one I'd been using for glides and twitches since its action and hook setting weren't getting it done well enough IMHO, at least with those presentations.

We have 2, one of which we won at the banquet several years back. It is our "lucky" rod and it caught a 22" smallie and 5 Muskie this week :-).

Good customer service and lightweight. That being said I broke at least 4 in 1 year…All is the same spot, 18 inches from the tip. Good Top Raider rod or small bucktail rod.
