Fred speaks highly of the one in Columbus coming up but I, personally, won't set foot in that town again. I believe there's one the same weekend as the Chicago Show in Novi (multispecies) and Pete Maina is there for a while (until he heads to the Chicago one). There's one in Minnesota in March. That one would probably be about as big as Chicago as far as speakers and scope of the event. Maybe too far away, however. Just made my reservation for Chicago this morning and I can't wait (I stay every year at LaQuinta Inn which is 8 minutes from Harper College). The "headquarters" at Holiday Inn Express is sold out. Jamieson's across the street may be still "open" they said.
Vinnie,
It was suggested that, "Hockey is lame". We both know that is NOT true.
However, it would be nice to check out some portion of the show, like Friday afternoon and do your game(s) on Saturday or Sunday, if that is when they are scheduled. My wife and I are taking Friday off from work and we're heading to Chi Town that morning. If you left at 8AM Friday you could be there around noon or so, pay $10 to enter, check out the vendor booths, buy a couple lures or three, and hear the "inventor" of the Double Cow Girl speak at 1:00. Then at 2:30 listen to Lee Tauchen who is a successful guide on Mille Lacs and other interesting waters who is talking about 40 pound muskies. Maybe you should mingle a bit more at that point as you never know who you can start up a conversation with. I talked with Al Lindner there once who was mingling among the vendor booths, and he didn't even want to talk about religion! Should you grab a quick burger and a bowl of chile you could probably head out and start back around 4:30 or 5PM. Considering traffic and maybe a pit stop or beer break you should be back by 10 or so. Hockey on Saturday and Sunday?? Vinnie needs to be a well rounded boy!!
