Hey guys,

I've recently started working at the Cabela's down in Dundee. I run the Fishing and Marine departments. My first order of business has been cleaning up the disastrous fishing department and primarily improve our Musky selection. If any of you have shopped my store in the past, you most likely know the Musky section was embarrassing. Well I've added quite a few new baits and nearly doubled what I had when I took over in April. Most notably I have been able to add Bondy baits to my selection, which I'm pretty excited about as that is one of my new favorite baits. So if anyone is looking for Bondy baits, I'm the only Cabela's in the country that has them right now. I have started with a few main staples from his line, Mini wobbler, original Bondy, Royal Orba, Hot Orba and even his new Prophet bait. I have all of these in 6 main colors. I'm looking to expand my selection even further so any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Any of you that shop my store, what baits would you be looking for? colors? Line? Leaders? Gear? Also looking to set up some seminars, what would you be interested in? Different baits? Techniques? Basics? Electronics? Any incite will be awesome. So if you do shop my store, come check out my new Musky selection. It's a work in progress but we are looking to go big in the musky world since we really don't have much to choose from in the SE MI area. If you have shopped my store but don't anymore because of selection or service, I ask you give us another shot, that's a whole other issue that has been addressed.

Thanks Guys, I look forward to any help I can get.

I bought some musky mayhems when they were on sale at the store last fall. The selection of musky gear was small. It's good to hear it's expanding but I find the prices are high compared to shopping online and even paying shipping. What are the prices of the bondys in store? Original and wobbler? I also see bps picked up bondys also but they are also expensive.

I've shopped there a few times in the past but the selection was weak and the previous poster is right…so much easier and better pricing to buy online with MTO. Anything you want and you usually have it at your doorstep in 2-3 days max. I used to always go there to get oil for my E-Tec but last few times they haven't any in stock which has prevented me from going again. The Fly Fishing section is outdated or lacking. Good job on the revamping of the department. It really was a mess and not too many helpful workers. I only hope it will sell for you. Most diehard Muskie Anglers I know do ALL shopping online these days or the fly guys will go to specific fly shops who are much more experienced and can guide a customer into the right set up. At times I'll visit and if the selection improves I'll be happy to revisit again. It would be nice to see the lefty reel selection grow. It's a good spot to stop in and check out new reels to the market but can never buy because they never have them in stock for a lefty…

I drive by that cabelas everyday on the way home from work. I stop in often to see if I can score some musky baits on sale. The prices are so high normally that I rarely buy anything. I always wondered why they didn't have any bondys there being so close to lsc/Detroit river. Their whole fishing department has been on the decline for the last 5-10 years IMO. Hopefully you can turn that around. One thing that drove me nuts was the leaders were never in the musky section. I'd have to walk around in circles trying to find stealth leaders so I'd recommend putting them with the musky baits. I will have to stop in and check it out.

I'm surprised the musky section is so small over there as the store in Grandville has and entire 24' gondola full of musky baits. We actually had more musky baits than Salmon spoons which didn't make any sense based on the close proximity to Lake Michigan. What stinks is a lot of the corporate buyers are going to look at profitability and price mark up so they will want to stock cheaply made/knock-off products. Those kind of products are inexpensive for them to buy, but most musky anglers aren't going to touch them because we know they're junk.

It is great to hear you got Bondy's in there and I would just try to keep getting baits which are suited for LSC. Magdawgs, Pounders, Medussas, Stealth Fluoro and Wire leaders, etc. As far as colors go, you can probably keep it pretty simple and try to get in walleye, cisco, and black/orange. You can probably throw in a perch color in there, but those other 3 are always a good choice.
