I couldn't make the banquet again this year. Can someone please send me a journal for 2007? Also, are we supposed to take any scale samples this year? If so, please let me know what to do. I didn't do this last year b/c I missed the banquet last year too, but that's not much of an excuse. I didn't realize how important this info would be. Thanks!!

There hasn't been a decision one way or the other on this program for 2007. Getting books back from people was like pulling teeth… actually pulling teeth is easier.

If I had known last year how important this was, I would have definitely done it. I only caught 10 fish in MI last year, so it's probably not that big of a deal. But I would guess every little bit helps. I need to start a log anyway, what kind of info do you track on your catches?

The DNR is not only concerned with what you're catching but also where and how many hours your are fishing.

I keep a basic log and don't keep a specific log on each fish. The headings on my excel file are:
1. Date
2. Hours fished
3. Lake/River
4. # of fish caught
5. Length of any caught fish
6. Notes (I put in things like who was in the boat, lures used, notes on water conditions, specific spots that were good, moon phase/conditions, etc.)

If I want to go back and look at specific weather, moon info, etc. I can find that stuff on the internet at any time.
