Definitely some disease of some sort out there. Thousands of nasty looking bluegills all over the lake, from suspended to shore. You can't go 10 yards without seeing one rotting alive… kinda scary!!!

The other strange thing about the lake is all the floating algae. I don't remember seeing that in past years. Some, but not this much.

Hudson has a die off of little Crappie's every year. The year before last it look like the lake got nuked, they were everywhere. Last year wasn't bad and so far this year nothing.

Jim, that algae was discussed at the lake meeting i posted about before, its become a huge issue, and they haven't had that kind of problem with it before. They said they don't know how to get rid of it yet. Least thats what my uncle told me

♪ What's it all about, algae? ♫

Embarassed Oops; that was "Alfie", wasn't it! [smilie=biggrin.gif]

An algae bloom can be caused from all the homeowners around the lake fertilizing their lawns and it runs-off into the lake during a storm.

I hope whatever it is, it's not spreading to the muskies. Found this little guy this morning. Looked like it was about a 36"er

Saw that fish too but it looked like it had just decayed so hopefully not the same thing as the blue gills. How close did you get to it? Looked bigger than 36 to me 😀

Im not good with directions, but the 40 I got
was in the bay across from the marina.Kinda
over where that yellow float plane sits. It took
off like a rocket when released. I barly had it
hooked(fig 8). I sure hope its not the same fish.

This one was in the bay by the boat launch without the dock and it had been dead for awhile as it was pretty decayed. Definitely not your fish kid so dont worry about it.
