The MUCC annual state convention is coming up June 24-26 in Lansing at Holiday Inn (south). If my memory is correct resolutions #8,9,10,and 11 are all sponsored by the Michigan Darkhouse Anglers Association. All of the proposed resolutions are bad news for the muskelluge.

MAA is not presently a MUCC affiliate, therefore, I have contacted the other clubs I work with to vote 'no" on all of these resolutions on behalf of the musky resource in Michigan. So far the other fishing organizations understand and plan to vote no. Can the members of MMA please contact all the MUCC clubs in your area and let your concerns be known? Should MMA again revisit the idea of joining MUCC to have a voice?

Sorry, I missed this the first time around.

The MDAA is of the opinion that most anglers are interested in harvesting fish and that they're frustrated with higher size limits, increased bag limits, etc.

Fortunately, what MDAA wants to do is exactly the opposite of what most anglers truly want according to DNR surveys. MOST anglers want the opportunity to catch larger fish and if they're interested in taking fish for the table the choose to harvest fish like salmon, walleye and panfish.

The MDAA complains that there are too many restricted lakes when in fact the number of gear, size or creel restricted lakes is less than ONE percent of the lakes in Michigan.

What the MDAA has done is to point out how out of touch with reality they really are!

I haven't seen the final report yet, but I heard that MUCC voting resolutions turned out as follows; # 8Y, 9N, 10N. I believe #8Y allowed spearing of muskies on LSC. Someone will let us know if that is correct.

If that is indeed what #8 was there is no way that could ever happen even though the MUCC clubs might support it. MMA, Muskies Canada, Muskies, Inc. and the MOMC would make sure that it couldn't happen.

Besides, MUCC is not the Department of Natural Resources.
