The first cast to the last cast of 2005 was memorable and amazing. I'll never be so fortunate again and will always look back on 2005 as "THE YEAR"

Caught a 40"er without makin a cast. Took my uncle on his first musky trip, he brought the fish up and to the boat. He wasnt payin attention and didnt give it a good chance on the figure eight. He thought the fish had left and fired out another cast. I saw her go under the boat, and stuck my bait in the water. Second turn, she ate. Wish he would have got her, but oh well, lol. I'm never gonna let him forget her, either. 😈

Lots of good memories…
Dramatic clearing of water at Osterhout pre-turnover revealing lush growth that I'd been casting over all year without knowing it
Mustard-colored shovelnosed pig coming out of the junk weeds at Campau to remind me that all it takes is one cast
Feeling those big head shakes while hanging onto a 7-foot fly rod
Watching a muskie go from lazy to a torpedo in two tail strokes as it covered maybe 40 feet in a fraction of a second to pick off a spawning sunnie at Bankson
Discovering a pile of big drum off the Heinz pickle plant on Macatawa when they were not to be found elsewhere; we got 10-lb'ers on 4 of the first 5 times we fished it in August
Coming under the intoxication of the north country, drifting gently under a light drizzle and failing light at Harris Lake in Vilas county, thinking that this was where I belonged

Launching my new boat in the spring.
Ruining my first prop on my new boat due to low water conditions.
Surface temps of 86 degrees.
My first deep-diver figure 8 fish… very cool hit.
My first (and second) break-offs… not even a little cool.
3 very good trips with buddies.
Landing fish on back-to-back casts.
An awesome fall after a terrible summer.

I had many memorable things happen this year. Twice I had young boys catch Muskies trolling and both raised muskies and performed thier first figure 8's. KID BOSSE AND KID CRABTREE. You better watch out Kelly there are two new (KIDS) on the block Laugh Laugh Laugh .. Catching the biggest fish of the Ice up outing at Thornapple. Getting to know Kid Coulson. Meeting John Esox on Lake -x ,Watching my wife catch 14 fish and average 41 inches. Catching fish on a P.M.S Lure. Getting ,building and fishing from our new little modified JON boat. Finding the best numbers lake on this continent and making plans to fish it 8) 8) 8) . catching a 24" Smallmouth bass on a 7.5" prototype Little Claw. But MOST AWSOME thing was when I watched a 50 inch Musky try to eat my wifes 29" pike while it was tied to my anchor rope. Thrashing teeth, foam and one very distressed Queenfisher Laugh Laugh . Kingfisher

1. Opening Day on LSC, went out with about 5-6 boats. Everyone got fish! Great way to start the season. 😀
Part of that opening day was losing my FILs first muskie at the net Embarassed

2. Got my nephew his first muskie, we were setting lines and he was holding a board rod, when the fish hit, before the line was in the clip, he thought that was pretty cool…

Watching Chad catch back-to-back 40" fish casting.

Watching my friend from Iowa catch his first LSC musky.

Watching a 50" class fish spit my lure after clearing the water by 3'.

Losing a very big fish, possibly the mid-50" fish we had seen several times earlier in the day.

Watching Chad catch twin 47's casting.

Catching my first 50 incher on LSC.

Going double-digits in a day.

OK, Nstagator how about this?

Things that were memorable in my boat in 2005:
– over 250 fish landed
– an eleven fish day with an average size of 44.75”
– more than 25 days on the water with four or more muskies landed
– catching a 50” then loosing a 50” two minutes later
– saying this bait is going to catch a PIG, then catching a 52 on it five minutes later
– saying that I need payback for loosing a mid-50, then a minute later putting a 51.5 in the net
– loosing a 51-52” within the first few casts of the St Clair opener
– hooking and then loosing a muskie on December 31st 2005
– knowing, as it's happening, that none of it really matters…

Things that were memorable and really mattered in 2005:
– being able to fish with Tyler
– being able to fish with my Dad

For me it would have to be Jake's 52 incher. That will for ever be burned into my memory! We didn't make it out as much as we thought we would, but most trips produced. Just being in the boat with the kids was great, we always find something to laugh about. 😀 They have really come around the last few years.
