Wow… After reading some of the posts here, I didn't realize how clueless some people are about muskies. Here's one for example:

It's sometimes hard not to say something stupid. There's been a lot of comments lately about the DNR muskie/pike plans.

That isn't bad at all compared to some of the stuff I've stuck my nose in over there. Duke is the official MMA watchdog on the M-S forums, I usually stay out unless I get an e-mail to get my azz over there. There was an amazing thread there over the winter about Murray lake that Duke and I tag teamed. If you want to see how scary someone with the power of the pen can be check out N. Michigan sportswriter Linda G. over on M-S. I think Duke, Cyberlunge and I have all gone toe to toe with her to no avail…

Yeah, I've seen that thread… and all I can say is, "There are none so blind as those who WILL NOT see."

In most cases I agree. If you present the facts and not go off half cocked you can usually sway most of them. The ones that start off saying they know the muskies are the "problem" are usually a tougher sell.

I just don't what to think of the people to say muskies are to blame for low populations, yet these are the same people who catch and keep their limit a few times a week for their lunch.

There are 33 million people in the ENTIRE COUNTRY of Canadia. There are 10 million people just in Michigan, about half (5.4 M) in the Detroit metroplex.

DOH! [smilie=bangtard.gif]

Lakes in the Detroit area have much higher angler-density than most lakes in Canadia. Shall I draw you some pictures?

Thanks, Tom! Since I've had kids, I've lost my ability to read if there aren't pics associated with the words!

Exactly! The 'look in a mirror' argument that I have heard a lot and totally agree with. Muskies of course eat other fish but aren't a big reason for lower populations. I hear so many guys on murray and campau complain about the bass or pan fishing being terrible and think it's so funny. Just a couple years ago murray was one of our best bass lakes and we caught really nice fish and plenty of numbers. (I say a couple of years ago because I don't fish for bass anymore lol) Just because people aren't catching them doesn't mean they are not there. I seriously laughed out loud in a computer lab when I read this line from a fellow MMA member, "Any decline in bass fishing isn’t due to a lack of bass…"
