Almost didn't post this at all, then decided to in the member's discussion only to share with our MMA faithful since I know I'd like hearing it on the first night, especially if I had a long drive to consider. Anyway, had just this evening to hit the show with the rest of the weekend out. I of course hope it does great, especially our booth and Will's seminar too. But thought I should share that plenty of vendors didn't show up and the nice hall had lots of empty space. Not sure why, in fact my reel repair guy from Chicago called this week saying many vendors had pulled out, complaining about the organizer and whatever else, but the web page showed the full list all the way until at least last night when I looked. So the web page disconnect with what's there may not help credibility for the future.
I still got a few cool baits like Ziggy's and enjoyed seeing our MMA faithful volunteering their time at the booth, thanks to Jason and all others who are helping. Cabela's is still close to help make the trip worth it too, heck I almost bought a cool rifle and enjoyed that stop as well. I hope the show works out in the long run but what I saw may not bode well for the future of it.
I agree Steve. There was about half as many booths as last year and I heard a lot of vendors pulled out due to lack of advertising. I had some pretty good conversations with people and one especially eye opening chat with a guy from Canada who fishes Sanford that was completely shocked that our state allows spearing. It was such a foreign idea to him that he didn't even know how spearing was done.
We had to pull out back in September. It was due to Illness and the fact that we had to finish our shop. I didn't have any product until Late December and then had to play catch up with all of our retailers. Going into this weekend I had 4 lures. Right now we are finishing up the last store order from last Fall. Ill be caught up in two weeks and starting to put baits in stock.
The new Wood shop really has things moving now. I can do about twice the production I was doing before. We really wanted to do the show but there was just no way this year. Mike and Michelle
For the smaller crowd the booths were doing well in sales from what I heard. In fact one booth pretty much sold everything they had, can't remember who it was. Mike had quiet a few people ask about your lures. Talked to one guy from NY and was surprised they let spearing go on here. I still think with good advertising & weather this show could be a sucess. Good to see Cooper, Ed, Rick and bunch of the other guy's.
Mike, I know you had some unfortunate things go down and you had to make a tough call, I was talking about the vendors that backed out within the last few days. Both the Musky Shop and Musky Hunter magazine were supposed to be there but didn't show. There was some cool stuff there and the girl at the Lungen/Musky Armor booth was definitely worth walking by several times

Greg wasn't real happy with me. I don't know what else we could have done. I hope he still has the show next season. It can only get better. We are off to our best year ever in sales. My first quarter is going equal my first half last year. Orders are pouring in and I'm as busy as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. This year for the Banquet aside from the two Weagles, two Wabulls and two Tippy darters I am donating 4 of our new 6.5 inch Slasher Stubby (named after the old Stubby's tackle shop in Belle River. and 4 of the new 8 inch Magnum Slashers. I was going to do one of each but changed my mind and am putting 8 of our newest ones out there. The 8 inch has been tested on the St Lawrence with nice results. The new Stubby is a shortened version of our Jointed 7 inch Slasher with more squared off nose and a different lip. This lure really moves side to side well. Its still a little bigger then a Loke and with the squared off lip it has a mountain of vibration. Im going to paint these up in Lake St. Clair colors. The guys in charge of the items can decide how to present them. Mike

He didn't mention you at all this weekend when we talked about those who dissapointed us.
I told him you would be there next year, third weekend of March for the two day show!
He was more disapointed back when I couldn't come up with booth money in September. I didnt mean he was angry or anything. Just not happy about not having us there. I am glad he is going another year. We really wanted to be there this year. We have three maybe 4 new baits this year.
The 10 inch Deepthreat
The 6.5 inch Stubby Slasher
The 8 inch Magnum Slasher
The slasher jerk bait (kind of like a wooden squirrely burt.
The new jerk bait is still in the testing stages but so far we have two different tails one with a single 7/0 hook pinned and glued into the tail with a big soft plastic grub and the other with a loose treble and bucktail or flashabou.
Im pretty excited about the new jerk bait, Once I get the weighting right it should dive and rise like a suick but slash off to one side like a Burt. Michelle wants it to go left , right as well. We will see.
