As part of our partnership with Jan Hessenauer and his tracking research we would like to capture and tag muskies on St Clair (Anchor Bay) the weekend of May 19th. We are hopeful that we can accomplish this through angling but first we need volunteers.

** Important ** Anyone volunteering will need to be have a livewell capable of transporting a fish from anywhere in Anchor Bay to the LSC Fisheries Research Station at the mouth of the Clinton River (adjacent to the Harley Ensign ramp)

If you are interested please get back to me ASAP as all volunteers will need to be added to the Scientific Collector Permit.

If you might still be interested in this please let me know. Though a large livewell would be nice on each boat it isn't completely necessary at this point. If weather cooperates the research station will have one of their research boats out in Anchor Bay which will allow them to pick up fish or one of the other boats will be able to run fish for you.

Here are the details:
Meet at 7:00 AM at Harley Ensign to cover the plan for the day and hand out scientific collector permits. After this meeting you can choose to launch at Harley or proceed to another ramp. If the weather is decent enough the fishing vessel R/V Perca will be on the water in Anchor Bay and fish will be handed off there and surgery done on the boat. If it's too rough, fish will have to be run to the research station and back to the capture location after surgery.

7 fish 26 – 44" implanted with transmitters. The biologist was super happy about the results. He said he couldn't have asked for more. We talked today about setting up another day to finish up. When/if that happens we will get the word out ASAP.

Could they set up a temporary holding pen that we could put the fish in over the course of the whole weekend? I'd be willing to give up working on my house for a day or to again… ya know for science.

Problem right now is that he had to give back some of the gear he borrowed. Looking at getting it back or possibly using an alternative. So… until something is resolved with that no fish will be implanted.

**Update**

Next attempt for Anchor Bay fish will be this fall, most likely mid-late October but I'll keep posting as plans progress.
