Well I made two trips down to fish with billy davis over the last couple months. As usual I was greeted with cold front scenarios again. February trip was ROUGH. 20 degree temps warming into the low 40's with rain/ice storms made for a long three days. Water temps dropped 10 degrees in 24 hours and 15 degrees over the three days. This put a huge damper on the action. Muskies were no where to be found and the stripers just would not eat. We did switch it up late into the second day and tried for big cats and man did we get a hog. not 10 minutes in and we had one take the bait and put a 50lb blue cat in the boat. it was massive and made the whole trip worthwhile. just got back sunday from my second trip and we had a blast despite the slow fishing. A nasty storm greeted us upon arrival but high pressure followed and gave us a beautiful couple of days on the water. We chased Muskies and Stripers and managed to get my girlfriend her first striper which was pretty cool to watch her exhaust before the fish lol. I did miss out on a big muskie that managed to get off which was the only action we had for that species besides seeing a couple of cruisers that had no interest. One other striper hit my shallow invader but failed to connect which was still cool to see happen 8 ft from the boat. We caught hundreds of skip jacks which are a boatload of fun too, they are like mini tarpon. Billy is a great guide and if you ever make the trip to Melton Hill I would highly recommend hiring him. Its helped me with my off season muskie blues.
