Taking a vote to see what would work better for the majority who want to participate in match fishing 2009. Will proposed the idea of 7 predetermined days, 3 of which must be fished, but with the option to fish all 7 and take the best three OR maybe only fishing the 3 days out of the 7 that work for you, schedule wise, weather wise, etc…..vs the set up used in the past.

I didn't want to talk about this yet but…

When I threw out that idea the intent was to set the stage for a tournament trail… Believe it or not, there is a committee of MMA board mebmers taking a look at starting a 3 or 4 event tournament trail (Michigan Muskie Trail). This wouldn't replace match fishing but would likely create problems for setting specific dates for match fishing in future years if the MMT is something we start. I would still think the first round of match fishing could be set dates though.

Kinda need to decide quick though. I haven't been thinking about this but we're WAY behind getting match fishing started for 2009. The info should have been in the newsletter this month. Now we're a month behind and specific dates might be the only way to get back on track…

Kid Coulson – Are you in for this year again?

Women! Why is it always about the clothes?

(I want a cool jacket, too. Embarassed )

There's no reason you can't be Match fishing AND MMT fishing at the same time…

I like the idea of a tournament trail. I was actually thinking about trying to get something going like that but I'm glad board members beat me to it.

Definitely a good idea! I voted for the set days as it will take away all the contacting done by the teams and will take some work off of the coordinator (kid?) as he won't have to think of so many different secret items for all the matches.
I think it would be cool to do both of them and then maybe have a special prize if a team wins the match fishing and is like the 'Team of the Year' in the MMT.

Yes, I agree it is a good idea to talk about this. We should have had this resolved months ago…

Looks like its a go for the seven set days MMT style…..I agree the benefits of less work for coordinating // contacting // ie e-mails – phone calls…..outweigh the advantages of being able to set your own dates to fish. After all, fishing dates should be the priority anyway and the only thing that should trump those days would be other fishing dates! Tourny trail style…..Got my eye on a gaudy jacket 2[smilie=2c.gif] I'd be more than willing to help with any set up FYI WILL //KID

I'm not a big fan of the seven set days idea… I like the notion of match pairs fishing the same time/same day which usually equalizes conditions for everyone (weather/moon/declination of Saturn/aspect of Venus), since most people are in S. MI. There's a much bigger potential for unevenness the other way. I've got enough factors working against me already (stupidity, ignorance, laziness, etc….)

When I voted it was based on matchfishing and not tournament fishing. I like the idea of 7 set days where 3 or 4 count towards the trail. I'm all for it!

If there were seven set days with four weekend days and three weeknights the teams would still be fishing on the same days – right?

Please keep these two things seperate, there isn't going to be any kind of combination of the two. For match fishing we only ask for a minimal entry to cover the trophy.

If the MMT starts next year there would be an entry of $300-400 for the trail and a single event entry would be $150-200.

Based on the amount you get on the water I'm guessing you would be fishing days 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. [smilie=biggrin.gif]

While the previous format was cool in that you knew that two other guys were fishing at that exact time, the scheduling was usually a challenge. So we could give the new format a try and see how it works. The Pigs are up for it in either format.
