I was in Elise last night and stoped in the taxidermy shop to check out the deer mounts. The guy at the shop had some nice pike on the wall. So I got talking to him and he told me he fish's the maple river a lot of the time for some nice looking 40 inch pike in their he tells me. He also told me that this spring he hooked a nice 40 inch muskie in the river. And let it go knowing the 42 inch lemit on them.

These fish never cease to amaze me… that trip down the Little Maple River to the Maple River is about 9.5 miles of SMALL stream, some of which is even channelized county drain. I'd be curious to hear where he caught it, because from that confluence its another 10 miles down to Elsie. That is REALLY cool that someone was able to take advantage and enjoy that Ovid fish though!!
