Hi guys, spent a couple hours last night casting Manistee Lake with friends. Heard a few reports that seemed credible of muskies being caught on the lake by dedicated pike trollers. I know there are some fish in the big river and Bear Creek, as reported by tribal biologists, but has anyone heard of much out of Manistee Lake? Also, I had a report of a 3-foot-ish muskie getting off boatside on Pere Marquette Lake in the last two weeks.

I would PM Cyberlunge, Kevin, if anybody in the club knows Manistee Lake it would be him.
I understand muskies to be in there, but not in a density to truly target them.

I fish those lakes (PM, Pentwater, Manistee) often primarily targeting smallies but usually spend some time targeting muskies. I've never contacted a muskie, but have read reports/surveys of muskies in all of those lakes. Some are native and some are transplants, but I'm sure there are muskies that call those lakes home at various times of the year or permanently. Would be cool to catch one there so that's what keeps me motivated to cast for them. I catch enough pike & smallies for to keep things interesting and hopefully one day I'll run into the needle in the haystack.
