Ok, I decided to see how to get to The Raft by water. The GPS coordinates for their boat docks are N 42 deg. 40.222', W 82 deg. 37.373'.
I have an 18' Thompson bowrider with an 8' beam and a deep V hull. It has a 120 HP Mercruiser I/O, and it drafts alot of water so I hoped the water was deep enough at the Raft docks. It was, but I had to trim up the outdrive and come in on the trolling motor after I hit the last channel marker. (I did hit a rock with my main motor prop before I changed to the trolling motor).
I started the trip out in the middle of Anchor Bay and headed North East. I had to swing out around Fairhaven Point – it does stick out quite a bit into the bay. Excellent fishing there too. I headed for the middle of Bouvier Bay. There is a green marker there GPS N42 deg. 40.058' , W82 deg. 38.490'. First cast I made at this marker I caught a 38" musky. A good sign. Then I proceeded East to the red and green channel markers that start in about 5' of water and wind their way to the Raft docks. They start at about GPS N42 deg. 40.129' and W 82 deg. 38.013'. Saw a huge largemouth at the first red channel marker. The channel is 4-5' deep all the way to the last channel markder closest to the RAFT. Then trim your motor up!
Bouvier Bay has great musky fishing and the cabbage weedbeds there are excellent right now. Have fun June 27!
