A couple of good deals going on now, if anyone is looking for a spare or new unit. The first is only GPS for 339, gander has the DSI version for a bit more.

Since we are talking about graphs here, does anyone have any experience with side imaging or structure scan… It looks cool but for those of you that have used it, is it really worth the money??? I noticed cabelas has 30% back in points on the 998 humminbird… kinda tempting if they had $600 in other stuff that I wanted and can't get elsewhere [smilie=brows.gif]
So, has anyone used the Side Scan much to tell a little about it? Really thinking about pulling the trigger on one. There are some decent used units out there. I've had my eye on a 798ci SI. Internal GPS. Is it worth the $550-$600? Can anyone honestly say that they have learned parts of a lake faster/easier because they had the Side Scan? Thanks!
I have been looking at an SI as well. This year I spent almost 500 hours on the water, and what I found myself doing with the electronics was using GPS to position myelf, and the digital sonar for depth readings. No sonar. Gave that up for a larger GPS screen, with track data. If I had 2 screens I would go strictly GPS on one, and SI on the other but with only 1 I am looking at drift angles/speed and secondary depth for subtle or sudden depth changes if I am on breaks. Not that I am all that Mr Muskie but hey thats just how I roll.
