or that large spinning gear is the optimal gear for this big fish…

I noticed in some of those keyes outdoors videos that hammernick was using those lip grippers on every fish. Looked like an easy way for a musky to shake and rip his mouth apart

I've seen that too but am pretty sure I've read that he releases it anytime the musky starts shaking violently. It still seems like an extra step that isn't needed in the unhooking process.

yea i didn't get why they needed it for every fish. Some of them were barely hooked.
