Heavy wire leader. I use 200# SPRO leaders and I cut them down to about 9".

Ok. Last time out, I was using fluorocarbon leader. Lure kept going submarine on me. Never had that problem before and was wondering if it was my leader or line causing that.

It doesn't have to be 200 lb for topwater, could be 120 if you wanted. But i would never use fluoro on topwater

120# 12" single strand with just solid rings at both ends and attach bait with SR or Staylock.

I bought a few of these from Chad and they work GREAT for walk the dog baits, much better than my Fluoro leaders.

I can get a deeper sounding "sploosh", and that's what I want, on Poes Giant Jackpots using flouro as opposed to wire.
