I'm looking for information about fishing Lake St Clair.
Is there a good spot in Michigan waters to launch and fish or do you have to fish Canadian waters? I fished a charter out of Windsor a number of years ago, but would rather do my own thing. I hear alot about the Detroit River but is there anywhere to fish the bay, or am I wasting my time. Also, when is the best time to go?

See this post as of a couple days ago. More than enough info there to keep you busy for 5-6 seasons. Welcome and good luck!

Thanks, I appreciate it. Any recommendations on lure choices?

This time of year, I would have with me;
Bulldawgs
Glidebaits you can work fast
Glidebaits you can work slow
Spinnerbaits
Bucktails
6-8" cranks shallow running
6-8" cranks deeper running
Bondy bait – if you follow the hype

I know that is broad, but you really don't know what you are going to find the fish responding to or the conditions you will have to fish. With all the hot weather and bluebird skys, it's almost like the fish are in a full blown summer pattern already. They could be anywhere….

John-

My rule of thumb has always been to match the forage. I know perch and frog in different variations are perennial favorites. And don't be afraid to think outside the box, those fish see a lot of Chads baits 8) Laugh Laugh

I just said to my boat partner last weekend, I am pretty convinced for casting if you had a dark color, natural color (perch or walleye), and bright color like firetiger, you could catch 90% of the fish you catch with 15+ colors… Location – Presentation – Color. If you are trolling, I totally don't agree with that… Its Location, Presentation, and Color… But color is everything… 45 colors isn't enough if they are not biting yours that day…

Thanks guys, I've got a little bit of almost everything, so I'll give it a whirl.
