Trip Report –

haha, so we made it up finally and fished in miserable weather… 4ft waves made it near impossible to fish any open lake structure, thunder, rain, the whole nine yards.

The plan was to camp, but that fell through after night one there was 4inches of water in our tent. I was stubborn and rented a cabin, and we pretty much fished anytime there was a chance that we wouldn't be shipwrecked.

As far as the fishing goes, we got destroyed. We ended up making it right in time for a cold front right in the middle of the transition up there and I was completely lost. I'm not very dynamic and still learning everything when it comes to muskies and so moral was low as we tried to learn on the go.

We pretty much decided that BullDawgs and Jerkbaits where the way to go and we fished anything that looked like decent structure…4 days of misery and didnt see one fish…the walleye fishing was pretty hopeless as well…

With all that said, I can't wait to go back. LOTW is beautiful and a trip in August would probably be the best bet, I'm definitely going back next year and this time maybe I'll pay a little more attention to the weather report.

It isn't so much the weather report, it's just that September in canada can be like our November. You didn't have any sheltered bays anywhere or coves you could fish in? walk the dog topwater and bucktails can still be a hot ticket up there in september. Hope next year the weather is better.

Chris,
I am new to the MMA, but have been going to LOTW for approximately 15 years, probably will go there as long as I can manage it physically. The 1st two years we just went for a week and it just seen too far to go for that period of time since then we have been going for twp weeks. I probably picked on of the toughest areas to fish Whitefish Bay.

We stay at the Sanctuary Resort which is on an island in the middle of the bay. Sanctuary Resort is a small family run resort, very rustic, they also have a small camping area if you are interested <url url="[Permission to view this media is denied]

. We faced probably some the same high wind conditions you did, it made for some tough fishing conditions. After going there for several years I come prepare to do other methods of fishing, especially trolling when the winds are up or fishing protected areas. It was a tough year for us as far seeing fish and numbers. I did catch my personal best musky 51.5. The one thing that will continue to bring me back is the possiblity of seeing/catching a monster. I have seen fish that are easily in mid/upper 50s. As others have said you can't beat the surroundings. In most cases I can go to area to fish and never see another boat in the area.
