I'll be in Iron River this friday for 10 days and I was thinking of trying Emily. I've never fished this lake before, the only info I have is what I could find in the Sportsman's Connection which we all know is sometimes inaccurate. If anyone has some helpful tips on fishing here I wouls sure appreciate it. PM me if you want to, I don't know if talking about certain places is frowned upon here like it is on other sites. Thanks in advance.

Not as bad as some other sites, that's why the member's section isn't open to the general public. We usually target pike in the UP at Portage, and have never fished Emily before, but you might try searching the forum to see if anyone else has posted info. in the past. Try pm'ing the Kings, they've fished everywhere, but they might not be on the board frequently b/c they just moved and are working on their new place.

Emily is okay but it gets a fair amount of pressure form guides and locals. Chicagon is just down the road and IMO a much better lake, people get spooked on it though because of its size, depth and water clarity. My PB is from Chicagon and I have seen other fish in there that still haunt me.

I'm actually gonna be staying at Pentoga Park on Chicagon so I will be fishing there too, I just wanted to try Emily since it is so close. I was going to Lac Vieux Desert but gas is an issue.

Emily has real good numbers and Chicagon can really kick your butt. Both are pretty cool but are exact opposites as far as catching and seeing fish. I would try speed trolling Emily… Cheeseheads fish this lake but they don't like to troll… the fish will be seeing something they don't normally see. Use short lines and shallow baits. Good luck!

I guarantee you will see fish on emily. Fish the ends of the lake (its an oval shape) and you will contact fish. The downside is most of them are really small. Even some of the forty inch fish are on the skinny side.
