It's only 19 days till opener, am not Jonesing as bad worked on the boat all weekend, un-wrapped it, cleaned it, fired it up and loading all the junk in it. Did I mention it's only 19 days to the opener. The other part of this e-mail is to take your mind off that it.s 19 days to the opener. Sometime during the winter we always talk about Rock & Roll music, but we didn't.

So what was one of the best concert's or shows you have seen? I guess i'll start this to get my mind off 19 days! Late 70's early 80's, a friend gave me tickets to see the Who at Masonic. Wife had to work (not happy), went with a buddy, sat in the last row of the balconly, what a great show. It dosen't stop here, now we go into the lost weekend. Well the next night the Who played the Silverdome and I gladly raised my hand and volunteered to take the wife. Not as good as Masonic, but more Rock & Roll music. Lost a few brain cell's that weekend. Did I mention it's 19 days till the opner!!

Can't quite go early 80's with you (although Rush in Chicago in '84 was sweet) for the best but it is an old school band. Pink Floyd at Camp Randall in Wisconsin in 1990, I'm still morning departed brain cells from that night. 🙄

I think you lost more than a few brain cells, Steve… [smilie=smoke.gif]

This goes WAAAAY back, but the first rock concert I ever saw was Emerson, Lake and Palmer at SPAC in Saratoga, NY in ~1970. They blew my mind! [smilie=jamminz.gif]

Keith Emerson played this GIGANTIC mega-costly Moog sythesizer which made fantastic sounds, but which can now be duplicated by a ~$150 Casio keyboard!

I'd have to say Arrowsmith opening up for KiSS at metro ice arena. Or Rush 2112 at MSU.

One of the best? I have a 3-way tie for best ever…
Dave Matthews Band – Meadowbrook 1995
John Mellencamp – Little 500 weekend Indiana University 1992
U2 – 1997 Las Vegas – Sam Boyd Stadium first show of the popmart tour 9th row

Others that were great but not the best included…
– David Gilmour – Pine Knob 84, 4th row (almost made it a 4-way tie for #1)
– Beastie Boys – in 87 at the Fox Theater (bathroom in theater caught fire had to evacuate for 2 hours)
– The Who – VanAndel 2006
– Police – at the Joe in 83 – Synchronicity Tour
– Pink Floyd (must have been 90 when Scott saw them)
– Genesis at the Joe in 86

I love vintage synths, they are so fun to play. The casio Moog sound sucks, and is better represented by a Korg Triton Extreme. I got one last year for our studio and it totally rocks!!!!!! I don't even need a band to back me anymore unless Deadduck wants to come over and jam sometime. I hear he plays pretty well, VanHalen anyone? [smilie=jamminz.gif] Queenfisher

As far as best show, it would have to be the Van Halen reunion tour over in Detroit. Front row, Eddie's side of the stage. I took Kim and the kids. It was a ball having them there, and they loved the show! Its a good thing to, because the tickets came out of there college fund!

It was FANTASTIC, actually. We had seats right up next to the (outdoor) stage, and Mel spent most of the time less than 10 feet from us. Literally. I could see every one of his twenty chins… 😀 He had an amazing voice, and George Shearing was the perfect accompanist for him. I forget who played bass, and drums, but they were all excellent.

I haven't gone to too many concerts, but I just saw Switchfoot/Emery/Athlete and it was really good! Athlete only had two of their band members so they did an acoustic thing, but it was still very good.

Will and Hemi I'm not sure which one of you is scaring me more. Mel Torme? Isn't he dead or is he hanging on like Don Rickles?

Probably pretty equal I would guess. I learned one night we seem to have very similar taste in music. Though I'm not completely sure if Hemi is all over the map like I am. A few hours in the car might consist of George Strait, Eminem, DMB, Kid Rock, Harry Connick, John Mayer, Janis, Monte Montgomery, Aerosmith, Jack Johnson, Godsmack, Jewel, etc.

Well, I started this so I will let you guy's make some fun of me. First concert at the age of 12, Milwaukee Fair grounds, Paul Revere & the Raiders. STOP LAUGHING!! Saw Sam & Dave afternoon performance at a downtown club in Milwaukee, about 15. Hemi saw ELP at Bowen field house EMU, Saw Kiss twice, Olimpia and Cobo. Aerosmith (one of my favorites) about 15 times, first time 73 at the HIC in Honolulu opening up for the Guess Who, about a year later same place BTO. Bob Seager abou 15 to 20 time, remember when it was Bob Seager and the third herd. Muddy Waters (2), Bo Diddley, B.B. King, Elvis, Moody Blues, Elvin Bishop, Cat Stevens, ZZ Top,Fleetwood Mac, Alice Cooper,Foghat, J. Giles,REO,Johnny Winters,Queen (2),Peter Frampton,Mountain, Uriah Heep,Yes,Black Oak Arkansas with Jim Dandy,Elton John, Kinks,Heart,Ted Nugent, Bad Company,Steve Miller,Seals & Croft,Sly & the Family Stone. This is making my head hurt, seen about 300 shows, need to sit down and write them down, missing alot. Queen how about the sounds of a Hammond B3? And a band I never seen in person, saw them at age 10 on Ed Sullivan and all there movies THE BEATLES. Nobody will ever write songs like them. Steve
