I think rings is the better way to go with most jerkbaits. I think it gives slightly more consistent, predictable action but its not a real big difference. Jerkbait randomness is a good thing of course though, but I think you are a little bit more in control- with most jerkbaits- with the ring. In short it is definitely ok in my book!
