I agree, it's nice to see….you would assume and automatically expect the "hater" comments to outwiegh those educated responses in favor of stocking. Good news indeed! It was also good to read the article posted by Duke from mid-state giving our fish some well deserved recognition. I think some of our older generation outdoorsmen with thier stubborn, uneducated, "i hate change or any fish I can't eat" attitude are slowly fading away, thus allowing the younger, open minded, and responsible fisherman to take thier place. Although I try not to let my optimism blind me to the ignorant traditions and ideologies passed down, there still exists a tremendous need for continued education and change…..but the articles, comments, press, and marketing here in the state is truley awesome to see. Thanks again to everyone who has been working so hard at this, definately seeing progress and the work is paying off. 😀
Not all the older generation (yes, older than me, even) is anti-muskie. One of my acquaintances, an over-seventy professor, has a summer home on Hamlin, and when I told him last year about Hamlin having been stocked with muskies for the last few years, he was quite pleased, and wanted to know when they'd be fishable. I expect him to be out this summer trying for some.
