Congratulations to MMA member Tom Munson and his partner Rod Dailey.

Tom and Rod popped a couple of BIG fish on Sunday (45 & 49.5) to launch themselves into third place in the Indiana Muskie Classic. They only missed second place by 1.5 points.

Great job – WAY TO GO!!!

Thanks alot Will for some tips on fishing the Classic and also thanks to Trevor and Chad for giving us some info on the pattern for Tippee for the final day. Funny thing, the pattern on Tippee was VERY similar to what Will mentioned to me last week, hmm, this guy must know what he is talking about.
My partner actually caught all four of our fish that got us third place(32", 36" on Webster and 45" and 49.5" on Tippee) and he earned the free replica mount. He hadn't caught a muskie in 3 years so he was overdue. Glad he broke out of his slump in time for the tournament. I will possibly have pics later today of the two bigger fish.

That's awesome, is that 49.5 Rod's biggest fish?

Prior to the tournament, Rod had caught 10 fish EVER, his biggest being a 42.5" at Bankson. So it was his 2 biggest fish ever. I am trying to get him to join the club but we will see. For the team pictures I was wearing my MMA shirt for a little club publicity. The 49.5" hit on the figure-8 on the first turn, I was fortunate enough to turn and see it all happen. Awesome fish!

That makes it even better. No time like the IMC to pull out the two biggest fish of your life.

Awesome!

Here are the final standings:

Also, congratulations to Mike Hulbert (Mike donated a guided trip to the MMA banquet) and Jonh Bette on the win. They came up huge after a fishless first day to catch 44, 48 and 49 on day two.

Nice work to Tom and Rod!!! Boy, Rod is living right… What an amazing weekend. I am sure he will remember this for life. Can't wait to see pics!

Tom, I got the big goose as well, so I know how it feels. But remeber there were two guys in that boat! Great effort guys.

This was my first tim on Webster, Tippy, and James. What a neat experience. I would highly recommend this tourney for anyone. it is a very well run event.

It was Rod's first time on Tippee and my 3rd time. Rod had never caught an Indiana musky before. For third place we got very nice plaques and each of us got a 7'6" Spence Petros Signature Rod and a Shimano baitcaster, some binoculars, about 15 baits, a hoosier musky hunter duffle bag, a St. Croix hat, and a musky door mat. About $450 in prizes each. Not bad for being a net man. Laugh
Thanks again Chad and Trevor for the info you relayed to us Saturday night.

The complete results are posted now, it looks like Trevor and Chad came away in 14th place.

Out of 107 boats that is pretty good – congrats to you too.

Tom – I just gave you the how and where, you still had to catch them.

Actually, you gave me the where and the how but the funny thing is I didn't even have to catch them, only net them, lol Laugh
The thing was when we headed to the spot, there were no less than 20 boats fishing it because they had bigger motors and got there first. So we started out fishing out quite a ways but closer to a secondary structure and marked clouds of bait. Once we boated the 45" almost all the other boats moved farther out so when early afternoon came, we just slipped up into the primary spot and nailed the 49.5" with almost no one around us.
