Heard it was terrible. No fish caught or SEEN out of 29 anglers!
Well technically we "SAW" a bunch of fish. They were ather just belly to the bottom in 2 foot of water or actively spawning lol. Never seen such negative fish in my life, even the bass and bluegills were doing nothing. Although I heard the grajewski brothers caught a couple bass on their silly flyrods on the chain. Make that 31 anglers if ya want to count Scott Williams and I fishing for "fun" Friday. Beautiful weather for boating, most of the dead weeds at the bottom rose up to the surface as temps went 48 to 54 throughout the day, rumor has it that hard winters equal massive shad die offs. Aparrently it makes for a near impossible pre spawn bite. Agreed! ( boat floats, engine works, no trailer issues, and new baits tested…so it wasn't a total loss)
Well, Im glad I stayed home 😀 I learned a long time ago that early season Muskies in Indiana are not all that fun and end up costing me several local trips under better conditions. I hope to be out on our opening day. I hope to see some of you guys this year , good luck to all of you this year. Mike
Went down and fished April 8th. Fished from 7a-6pm. Threw everything in the box between three guys in the boat (even my knew little claws from kingfisher!!!) and almost didn't make it through the tunnel of death under the road. Saw no fish whatsoever. If there weren't so many dead shad I'd think that there werent ever fish in the lake. A less than awesome trip.
Everything was the same for us. We fished a variety of lakes over 3 days from the chain, loon, james, backwaters, webster, and upper long trying to find something that was active but it was easily the worst fishing experience that I've had since getting skunked on LOTW. There were a few dead muskies floating around mixed in with the panfish and shad.Miserable and demoralizing.
