I fished it about five years ago with no success. The locals in manistique told me nobody catches them anymore which makes sense since they stopped putting tigers in there in the early 90's I think. Smallmouth bass like to eat muskie baits there and the ones I caught were giant. I think the walleye fishing is decent too. Make sure you check out big springs while you're there. Very cool.
There is a remnant population of GLS muskies in Indian Lake – possibly one of the higher haystack to needle ratios, however (???) even for a state known for its large haystacks and small needles. But I haven't tried it, so they could be thick as thieves you never know!
yes you do.
Nick's right that any of the "commonly caught" reports are harkening back to the tiger days, and even then it was a stretch. Although I'm sure they were more commonly caught than the native muskies.
But a beautiful lake nonetheless. And there are several good, small musky lakes w/in an hour or so from Indian on the Forest Highway 13 corridor. Dana, McKeever, and Grassy, plus Big Island if you want to do carry-in with no motor (including no electric).
