Wading with Bull Sharks… BRILLIANT! Then again, one of the reasons that saltwater might be my true passion… WE are not the apex predator.

Cyber,
You might want to add a warning to that last link.

Not to long ago there was some footage of a shark hitting a trolled artificial seal on one of the cable shark shows. It was un nerving to say the least. They were adding foil strips or something to a Rubber seal to make it seem more real and a huge White hits it and goes end over end. Its the most incredible footage of a top water strike by any fish I have ever seen. Will, Im going to throw Little Claws at Tarpon next year 2008 with Musky tackle. We will be fishing out of Marco Island for two days for Black tip shark and Tarpon. Salt water is real tough. Even the dinks will lay out a steelhead rod. Ive been to Florida twice and caught most of the smaller fish like Drum and Sea Trout. My son caught a 75 lb Nurse Shark on a half of a fish for bait. It was pretty cool . Looked kind of like a cat fish head or Bullhead face with a smooth skinned body and dorsal fin. I know two charter captains on Marco. Mike

Ahh… Tarpon, that is one awesome fish! In certain situations it is very similar to muskie fishing when you find them in backwater areas and you're blind casting. Snook are probably the closest to muskies, they'll even eat on a figure eight (they call it swishing down there). I've spent some serious time in the salt and freshwater fish don't compare. I even have a nice scar from a ray that spined me in the ankle – that was fun.

My dad lived in Florida for about 20 years until his death. He didnt fish much after he moved down there as Salt water fish were a little over his perch mind set. I fished the areas around Naples and Marco Island several times twice on charters for Tarpon. We got robbed both times by weather and a malfunctioning motor. My boy got the Nurse shark and I had a Tarpon on for about 5 seconds. The guide had us using a fish called Jacks for bait. We caught them with jigs before we went out to the Bridges and anchored . I would of rather hunted them in the shallows with a casting rod. We got a thrill ride in a center counsil with twin 2oo hp Yamahas through the Mangroves. The guy had to put it up on its side to get through a few areas. Friggin nuts. That was the early 90's last time down there was 1998. 5 days at disneyland one on the water with a guide. Thats whenm we had motor probs and had to stay in close. Still had one small Tarpon on and Jess got the Catfish shark(nurse). I had a picture of it somewhere around here. Mike
